    Description

Item: Japanese Style Kasuri Fabric by the yard - Big Dots Design
This is a modern made cotton kasuri (ikat) fabric, manufactured in India, but based on Japanese kasuri designs. Kasuri refers to a particular weave and design technique, where the warp and weft threads are each dyed with a pattern before weaving. The end result is a fascinating design with a hazy look from each thread being dyed differently from the one next to it. Indigo and white kasuri fabrics were produced in Japan for centuries, as one of the main dyeing techniques for everyday items.
At one time we had produced a line of clothing and home items in kasuri fabric - now we have that fabric available by the yard. This pattern, called "Big Dots", has large dots and white lines. Perfect as a table top textile, or in various home projects like quilts.
The fabric is 44 inches wide, and is being sold in 2 yard lengths. Buy one piece or more. We are offering a total of 6 different patterns in all, please see other listings.
Please see our other listings for many more antique and modern items from Japan, China, and many other Asian sources.
We keep adding new items every week.
