Vintage Japanese Blue Silk Hand Painted Figural Children's Day Kimono Robe
This vintage Japanese blue silk hand painted figural Children's Day kimono robe dates from the 1940s. It is made of a pale pastel baby blue color silk fabric with beautifully hand painted pastel figural whimsical designs of children at play done along the bottom hem. The children are kite flying, spinning top, fan waving, bucket carrying and picking cherry blossoms. This charming child's size small Japanese kimono robe has a front tie strap closure, is fully lined in blue silk and would have been worn for Children's Day a Japanese national holiday on May 5th celebrating children's happiness. The kimono measures 16 1/2 inches long, 11 inches wide across the chest and waist and has 8 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful piece of Japanese wearable art!
